Artist Angela Deane takes what would be ordinary vacation snaps and turns them into something mysterious with simple ghost paintings. Found photographs of strangers are turned further anonymous by sheet-like ghosts that prove more haunting than the faces of people we don't know. Her work explores the complex condition of memories--can we retain experiences? Is what happened as important as what is happening? What happens when they're gone? It reminds me of the dialogue around Instagram and our current obsession with capturing the moment--many people argue it ruins the moment, but what if your memory is weak? What if people become ghosts without pictures of their faces to help you remember the names and moments that can never be repeated?
