Jean-Honore Fragonard, The Swing (1767) / Vampire Weekend, Horchata (2010)
Ever since the song Horchata ("In December drinking horchata...winter's cold, is too much to handle") I tend to associate the holiday season with Vampire Weekend. Which means as we enter December that band is on my mind and so is this mash-up of Contra lyrics and historic paintings regularly posted on Modern Vampires of Art History. It's really interesting how fitting some of the very modern lyrics are for such old and memorable paintings. If nothing else, the quirky combinations bring a bemused smile to my face.
