I'm a sucker for aerial photography. I think it goes back to my love of window seats on flights and that pure child-like magic of looking down at the world from high above; flying home for Christmas during college and seeing the fields covered with snow from the plane remains imprinted on me. Edward Burtynksy captures some of that magic with his environmental photography. Of course the drive behind his work has more depth than "oh how pretty;" Burtynksy focuses on the interdependence of nature and industry, particularly the ways in which industrial and human processes alter the landscape of the earth. It's a beautiful look at the world from above and the fascinating patterns we're adding to the natural landscape.
